You should necessarily consult a Gas Safe registered engineer for doing gas work legally and safely in your place. In Great Britain, Gas safe Registers were replaced by CORGI on first April 2009.

You should make sure that anyone who will work for your gas work must be registered to the Gas Safe Register. If a particular person is not registered, you must be conscious because it can be considered breaking the law.

• Servicing, Repairing and Installing a gas boiler
• Repairing or Installing hob, gas cooker or gas fire

• Whether you are a tenant or owner, you are responsible for your installation. Its maintenance ensures its use in all serenity and safety.
• Maintain your installation regularly. You are responsible for all devices and connections in your building. Follow the instructions for use and maintenance.
• Have the condition of the fixed piping, the connections of the cooking appliances, the ventilation of your home and the combustion of your devices checked regularly. The chimney flue of your boiler should be routinely cleaned and inspected at least once a year.
• Low maintenance of a natural gas installation can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
• If you are a landlord, make sure that the gas installation and appliances, such as the boiler and water heater in the rental accommodation, are well maintained. In the event of malfunction or obsolescence, you must ensure its replacement.

• Regularly clean the burners of your gas stove. The burner may go out if the orifices are clogged.
• Install a flame safety device on the burners: it allows permanent control of the flame's presence and cuts off the gas supply in the event of accidental extinction (overflow from a pan, draft, etc.).
• Observe the expiry dates for the flexible connection pipes of your cooker. If this tube is cracked, crushed, or defective, replace it immediately.
• Make sure to leave the connection pipes of your cooking appliances accessible over their entire length.
• Place the connecting pipe away from a heat source, such as a radiator.
